Workers at William F. White to join IATSE

Workers at William F. White International Inc., a division of Sunbelt Rentals of Canada, Inc., have voted overwhelmingly in favour of joining the IATSE. Concerns over job security, wages and a changing work culture inspired these workers to come together to improve their working conditions by forming a union.

“We are very excited to welcome workers from White’s into the IATSE”, said John Lewis, IATSE International Vice President and Director of Canadian Affairs. “Our members interact with these workers on a daily basis, and it only makes sense that they begin to receive benefits and representation similar to other IATSE film and television workers.”

William F. White International Inc., a division of Sunbelt Rentals of Canada, Inc. is Canada’s only national film equipment provider, offering services in several provinces. To date, only those workers at the Toronto location have joined the union.

“The industry works best when workers are paid and treated equitably,” said Lewis, adding, “There is real strength and benefit when workers come together.”
